Charlie and Mia arrive at Tsui's hideout to sell the drugs, but their deal is disrupted by three masked assailants, resulting in Tsui's death. Although Charlie and Mia manage to escape, they are framed as murderers since the assailants vanish. This situation brings homicide detective Walker into the picture, who immediately identifies Charlie as Lawrence Beaumont, a corrupt politician who has been bribing Walker. In a bid to sever his connections with Beaumont, Walker offers to hand Charlie over to him as a means of settling their debts.
